Why our society needs Old Age Homes?
Many old people have no one to take care of them; some have been abandoned by their children and forced to live in old age homes. Today’s youth are finding themselves unable to take care of their aging parents due to social, financial, and personal changes. In Western Countries, old age homes are compatible with care. They have full daycare facilities, nurses, and psychologists to help the elderly deal with the impulses of old age. Moreover, youth in those countries also prefer to leave their parents in old age homes due to paucity of time. But in our country elderly being dropped due to incapable of looking after their aging parents. Today many youths do not shy away from sending their parents to harborage. The gradual decay of the traditional joint family or extended family systems has given rise to nuclear families, thus excluding the elderly.
How do we handle old age People?
Saviour Foundation has established model homes for old age peoples. Although we have provided old-age homes much-needed roofs over the heads of those in need; the feeling of family and togetherness is not there. We provide shelter to the elderly, but health care and emotional satisfaction are some of the needs that are command. We work towards organizing entertaining activities to empower senior citizens to lead a quality lifestyle. Our foundation encourages us to engage in various creative and interesting activities like yoga classes, spiritual sessions, picnics, and food festivals. This fills them with enthusiasm and happiness. Such activities not only improve their brain functioning but also have a positive effect on strengthening their mental and emotional well-being. We organize health check-up camps from time to time to take care of their physical health and provide them all necessary support.
What we can do for old age homes?
There are many ways in which old age homes can be helped that accommodate the elderly, providing free food and shelter. Although, you can spend some time with senior citizens, listen to what they have to say, share information, hold hands (touch has a positive effect on the elderly). Whenever you visit them buy them some fruit, cut the fruit and feed each member slowly. On their birthdays, go to harborage, distribute food, clothes and seek the blessings of elders. You can pay the medical expenses of senior citizens through them. Many foundations are going through financial difficulties especially during this period and we are one of them. We need your support to maintain the happiness of senior citizens. It is the responsibility of our society to take good care of the elderly who are seeing the fall of their lives.
